Hi everyone,
As you can see as you drive by and from the photos attached, the hole behind our school is getting bigger. As you can see, they have poured concrete in the South West corner. Lots going on. We will have another update next week as we get more information. Have a great Easter weekend everyone.

Fun Fridays
The Community Council has been working with Grovecrest staff to provide more playground options for our students for lunch recesses. We are going to start "Parent Fun Fridays" beginning today!
The blacktop will be open both lunch & afternoon recesses today. There will also be other parent-provided fun games to play on the blacktop. The Kindergarten swings & playground will still be off limits for today.
We will have a closet in the basement (by the Copy room), where parents will check out "game kits" that have the directions & supplies for them to play with. We've also created a blog http://grovecrestrecess. blogspot.com (still finishing the details on it ) where parent volunteers can go to get ideas for games & also what is expected of them. The new playground has a lot of rules about where to come in, where to exit, where's ok to play, where's off limits, etc so it'll help a lot to have all that info in one place for parents that are signing up.
We will be sending out a Sign-up Genius for parents soon so that we can have this option every Friday for the rest of the year. Please spread the word! If we get enough interest, we'll start Terrific Tuesdays sign-ups as well. We are working on figuring out how to also open up the swings and Kindergarten playground on Fridays, and will update you when that is available.
Thanks!
Janna & the Grovecrest Community Council
p.s. If you have ideas for simple fun games, please send them to me and I'll add them to our list of game options!

Bus and Car Safety
In order to maintain the safety of our students, we are in constant communication with parents, bus drivers, teachers, and construction workers. One thing we want to make sure of is that there are no accidents between cars and busses as they enter and leave the parking lot. One practice we need to maintain so this doesn't happen is that those who are driving cars into the entrance leave at least two car lengths space from the sidewalk on 100 east into the parking lot so the busses have space to turn into their lane.
As an update on construction, they will start pouring cement for the foundation starting on Tuesday next week. This is exciting to see. We will have updated pictures and information at least once a week.
Thanks for all you do to show support to Grovecrest and your students.

Piles of Dirt
Some people have asked what the construction crew will be doing with the mountainous piles of dirt you see in the yard. I asked the supervisor and he said that all of that dirt will be used as backfill and grading out the playground where our current school and parking lot are. In fact, he said they would be bringing in more dirt because there isn't enough. Sorry.
North Parking Lot Update
Hey folks,
Starting this coming Monday, the North parking lot/pull through will no longer be available. Please refer to the instructions of using the West parking lot/pull through in the first post. They are making a lot of progress. It is exciting to see.

TheNewGrovecrest 1st Post
Dear Grovecrest Community,
As you drive by our property, you will notice the new construction well on its way. The construction company has been very accommodating to our school. We have asked them if it would be possible to keep using the north parking and pull through during construction. The supervisor said he would make sure to keep that open for all of us as long as he could. He said he would need to close it off on some days, but he would let us know when those days would be so we would be aware. On those days, there are procedures we need to follow in order to keep the flow in the west parking lot and pull through. These procedures are attached.
Also, we have created a Grovecrest New Construction Blog at the following link to keep our community informed on the progress. We will post any information and updates necessary for all of us so you can be kept in the loop.
Thank you for your support
